We are pleased to announce the release of the second release candidate of LyX 1.6.0.

LyX 1.6.0 will be the culmination of 12 months of hard work since the release of the LyX 1.5 series. We sincerely hope you will enjoy the result.

The new features in LyX 1.6 are detailed in our wiki. The file RELEASE-NOTES lists some known issues with this release compared to the current stable release (LyX 1.5.6). An updated list of issues might later be found here.

We encourage users to try this release candidate and report any feedback or problems to the developers mailing list.

Please find enclosed an announcement where the new features are explained in detail, some sources in tar.gz format (also .tar.bz2). There are also some binaries built for this release candidate.
